Koya Yamamoto is a second year PhD student funded by Ito Foundation, Japan. He graduated from Waseda University, Japan, with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. His research in undergrad was about evaluating the sloshing effect on the landing phase of spacecraft by modeling the sloshing as a mechanical mass-spring-damper model. His research interest lies broadly on spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control. Currently he is working on the finite difference method using complex steps and that application to astrodynamics problems. Outside of research he enjoys traveling, playing basketball, and watching movies, dramas.
