Thomas Ahrens is a 1st year Ph.D. student working with Dr. Junkins & Dr. Majji, funded on a research assistantship. Originally from the Bay Area in CA, he has a B.S. in Physics and Astronomy and a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Rochester. While in undergrad, Thomas did particle astrophysics research, his senior thesis was titled “Chasing Ghost Particles: Searching for High-Energy Neutrinos from Core-Collapse Supernovae”. Thomas’s current research interest is astrodynamics, focusing on trajectory design and optimization. He is currently working on using Integrated Chebyshev Collocation (ICC) to examine effects of thrust uncertainties in the perturbed 2BP. Outside of research, Thomas enjoys working out and flying.
